IPTV vs Satellite Server (IKS): What Is the Difference?
A simple comparison of IPTV and IKS satellite servers: how each works, what you need, and which one may suit you.
Our shop offers two kinds of plans: IPTV and satellite servers (IKS). They are often confused, but they work in different ways.
How IPTV works
IPTV delivers live channels and on-demand content over your internet connection. You do not need a dish. You only need a compatible device, a player app and a stable connection.
How an IKS satellite server works
IKS stands for Internet Key Sharing. It is used with a compatible satellite receiver that is already connected to a dish. The receiver gets its access keys over the internet, while the channels themselves still come from the satellite.
What you need
- IPTV: a Smart TV, Android box, Firestick, phone or MAG device, plus an internet connection of at least 15 Mbps for HD.
- IKS: a compatible receiver, a dish pointed at the right satellite position, and an internet connection for the receiver.
Which one should you choose?
If you do not have a dish, IPTV is the simple choice. If you already have a dish and a compatible receiver and want satellite channels, an IKS plan may be a better fit. Because IKS orders are non-refundable after activation, always confirm compatibility with us first.
